Acupressure

Acupressure is based on one the most ancient principles of healing — that simply touching a specific point on the body will release stress and improve health in the body. In an acupressure session, I apply firm pressure directly to these "points" on your body, which relieves your muscle tension and improves your circulation. This simple and powerful technique has been shown to very effective in treating headaches, backaches, and even insomnia.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used forms of medicine in the world. Originating in China more than 2,500 years ago, acupuncture is currently one of the most thoroughly researched, practiced, and respected forms of complementary medicine available anywhere.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, your overall health is determined by the quality of the Qi (energy) flow through the natural pathways of your body (meridians). Acupuncture uses a variety of techniques, including placing very thin sterile needles into specific points on the body, to stimulate and improve your Qi flow. The many benefits of acupuncture include:

  • Pain reduction
  • Stress and tension relief
  • Increased energy levels
  • Stronger digestion
  • Relief from bad habits and addictions
  • Greater sense of overall health and well-being

Cupping

Cupping has been a part of Chinese Medicine for over 2,500 years. It relieves aches and pains, improves circulation, and also helps with respiratory and digestive issues. I simply place a specialized "cup" onto specific points on your body, and then use suction to draw your skin up into the cups. It doesn't hurt — it simply draws fresh blood to that area of your body, which facilitates the cleansing and strengthening of your Qi (energy). The end result is a greater overall sense of health and well-being.

Gua Sha

Although Gua Sha is an ancient healing technique used by Chinese Medicine practitioners for thousands of years, it is relatively unknown in the West. It is recognized throughout Asia as a highly effective treatment for chronic pain conditions, stress, fatigue, and a host of other ailments.

First, Gua Sha oil is applied to a specific meridian (energy pathway) on your body. I then use a smooth round-edged object (such as a spoon) to apply short brisk strokes to that area. This creates red patches of skin (called "Sha"), detoxifying your blood and restoring the healthy flow if Qi (energy) to the area. There is no pain involved, and the Sha will fade in 2 to 3 days. But the sense of health and vitality you experience from it will last much longer.

Medical Qi Gong

Medical Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese Medical practice that combines slow movements, conscious breathing, and focused mental attention to strengthen and enhance the flow of Qi (energy) throughout your body. Rather than addressing your symptoms (as Western medicine tends to do), Medical Qi Gong addresses your ailment at its very source by healing your entire being — mentally, emotionally and physically.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a Traditional Chinese Medicine technique that involves the burning of mugwort, a small, spongy herb, to facilitate healing and health. Moxibustion has been used for healing purposes throughout Asia for thousands of years. The purpose of moxibustion, as with most forms of Traditional Chinese Medicine, is to strengthen the blood, stimulate the flow of Qi (energy), and enhance your overall vitality and health.

Among other benefits, a landmark study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 1998 found that 75.4% of women suffering from breech presentations before childbirth had fetuses that rotated to the normal position after receiving moxibustion at an acupuncture point on the bladder meridian.

Pulse Diagnosis

One of the most common questions that patients ask about Chinese Medicine is: "Why does my practitioner check my pulse?" Pulse diagnosis is actually one of the most complex and important diagnostic techniques we use in Chinese Medicine. Through feeling and evaluating your pulse, I obtain an accurate diagnosis of your overall constitution, Qi (energy) flow, and internal organ health, among other things. I then synthesize all of this information into a highly effective and individualized treatment plan for your specific needs.

Tai Chi

Originally developed in ancient China as a system of self-defense, Tai Chi is now a highly refined art that combines slow flowing movements with focused breathing techniques to strengthen your overall health and well-being. Practiced by millions of people worldwide, the benefits of Tai Chi are well-documented, and include not only a stronger physical body, but also a more focused and clear sense of awareness and attention.

Yan is White Crane Tai Chi Academy Chief Instructor, certified Instructor in Tai Chi Chuan, Tai Chi QiGong, Tai Chi Kung Fu Fan, Mulan Fan, Tai Chi for Arthritis, Tai Chi for Diabetes, Tai Chi Fan, Tai Chi Sword and Traditional Sword Playing since 1988. Member of United States of America Wushu Kung Fu Federation, Inc. Member of Shanghai WuShu Association Mulan Boxing Research Society.

Yan is First Place winner of Tai Chi 24 Form, Tai Chi Chuan other Forms and Tai Chi Fan, second Place winner of Traditional Kung Fu Straight Sword at United States 1st New England International Chinese Martial Arts Championships in 1999.

Now Tai Chi class (Tuesday night 7:00 to 8:30) is running through Cheshire Continuing Adult Education. Please call 203-250-2450 for registration.

Tui Na

Tui Na is an ancient form of bodywork that is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I use a variety of pressures and strokes along the meridians (energy pathways) of your body to both relax your muscles and also stimulate the flow of energy throughout your body. By treating both the physical (musculature) and energetic (Qi) levels of your body at the same time, I can achieve results far beyond what you’d receive from a conventional massage therapy session.

 Amazing Color Therapy

What is the Five Color Healing Therapy?

Five Color Healing Therapy is a relative new healing method based on Traditional Chinese Medicine Theory.  It utilizes the energy from the color, combining the logic behind Yin Yang, Five Elements, and Eight Trigrams that projects onto a human body’s key locations to manipulate the flow of Qi, thus achieve the healing process.

Advantages of Five Color Healing Therapy

Five Color Healing Therapy is the true green organic method without any health side effects.  It can be used during remote triage due to its easy to use and fast and effective nature.

How does Five Color Healing Therapy work?

  2. Obtain color photo
  3. Know the Eight Trigrams of the abdomen

Color is energy and can be applied to our body under the guidance of the Eight Trigrams theory and diagnosis used in traditional Chinese medicine.

Since each symbol of the Eight Trigrams represents one or two organs in our body, respective colors work on our body as medicine does. They work by generating, restricting, strengthening and neutralizing the organs’ energy, bringing the body into balance and health.

  1. When getting your 5-color therapy prescription, you should apply it using either body painting crayons or body kinesiology tape on your abdomen or left palm
  2. Timely feedback

Please provide feedback based on the time frame specified in the prescription by updating the inquiry sheet. The doctor will provide a new prescription based on your feedback

Precautions

  1. Do not keep the paint/tape on your skin for more than 8-10 hours to avoid possible skin allergies.
  2. Women should not use 5-color therapy during menstruation and pregnancy
  3. Please provide your feedback on time so that the prescription can be adjusted accordingly
  4. Take a one-day break after using the prescription for six continuous days

  6. Remove the paint/tape at any time if you experience discomfort or feel significant changes

Wang’s Color Spectrum Therapy - Healing On The Subatomic Level

Before we explain the theory of Wang’s Color Spectrum Therapy, we need to understand few basic concepts and their relationships between each other: matter, energy, energy flow (Qi), magnetic field, and light.
Based on classical physics, matter is any substance that has mass and takes up space by having volume in the universe. Energy is produced from matter yet has no mass, and is the capacity to do work. Matter needs energy to move, to change. Matter can obtain energy and energy can change matter. Matter generally includes atoms and anything made up of these (nucleus of protons and neutrons, and a surrounding orbiting electrons), which are interacting subatomic particles. When energy applies to matter, matter can change due to the exchange of electrons and thus changing its electromagnetic field, sometimes even the matter itself. The energy in the context of this article is the electromagnetic energy which is defined as photon. It’s the basic unit that makes up all light.
Now that we have the basic physics squared away, let’s look into Ancient Chinese Medicine Philosophy, explained and documented the above theory thousands of years ago. One important principle is called (天人合一), Nature and Human as ONE. We are our own universe in the universe. Wang’s Color Spectrum Therapy is based on this very principle. Our bodies are constantly adapting to our surroundings on the subatomic level.
In acupuncture, a popular healing practice, practitioners insert fine needles into specific points in the body to either reinforce or reduce Qi (energy flow) by different techniques like lifting, thrusting, and twirling the needles. As Qi flows through the specific meridians (or pathways/channels), patients will experience different sensations or acuesthesia like numbness or slight pain at certain parts of their body, not necessary the sites of insertion. These specific points are chosen by the practitioners based on the rules of Balancing of Five Elements. The goal is to achieve a better balance. A balanced body means a healthy body.
Color Spectrum Therapy is an even less invasive method than the already wonderful acupuncture therapy to regulate and adjust our body by channeling light energy from our environment, most importantly, the sun. The sun is the largest energy source for earth, it’s responsible for almost everything on earth. In fact, earth will be uninhabitable without the sun. Ancient Chinese ideologists already had a great understanding of nature based on the phenomena on earth. It’s well documented in “The Book of Changes” (易经). In “The Book of Change”, it systematically categorized our living environment or nature in the theories of Five Elements and Eight Trigrams. Coincidently, the theory of “Eight Trigrams’ Circular Motion of Qi” is describing the same rule as the theoretical basis for Traditional Chinese Medicine.
In summary, Wang’s Color Spectrum Therapy is the practice of balancing body (mass) using photon via color (energy) by introducing different color to change the
body on the subatomic level based on the ancient wisdom of Five Elements (relationship) and Eight Trigrams (movement), thus achieving the goal of healing.
The Four Legends
In the ancient Chinese astronomy theory, Chinese use four mythological creatures in the Chinese constellations to represent four directions and four seasons. They are Azure Dragon of the East, the Vermilion Bird of the South, the White Tiger of the West, and the Black Turtle of the North. In other theories, it added Qilin as the Center.
The Five Colors
In the traditional Chinese medicine theories, five colors represented directions. A philosophist named Sun Xing Yan(孙星衍) documented the five colors in one of his books, ‘The East is green, the South is red, the West is white, and the North is black. The Sky is dark, and the Ground is yellow. Since dark is the synonym as black, therefore the five colors represent six directions.’
Ancient Chinese defined these five colors green/blue, yellow, red, white, and black as primary colors. They are in fact the modern day three-primary colors plus black and white. Theoretically, by combining these five colors, one can create all the other colors that we can see, thus they can represent all the colors. As we have stated above, a photon is the basic unit that makes up all light. The color of a photon refers to its wavelength, which directly ties to its energy.
Color Spectrum Therapy Site
Our belly button is called the house of gods (神阙穴), it’s the best site based on the Eight Diagrams and thousands of years of clinical diagnosis in traditional Chinese Medicine practice. Each diagram represents one to two organs in the body, using their relationships to each, we can manipulate the energy flow in each organ on the subatomic level using color energy to achieving the goal of healing.e Subatomic Level

WEIGHT-LOSS ACUPUNCTURE

Lose weight naturally

Weight-loss acupuncture does not mean starving!  There are many approaches to losing weight but the acupuncture approach is based on eating well and definitely does not involve “starving”.   Excessive dieting may lead to anorexia, digestive organ dysfunction and other serious consequences.   When dieting the human body metabolism is reduced and the underlying metabolism is less able to deal with fat.  Once on a normal diet the changed metabolism results in increased fat and consequent weight gain.   You can end up more overweight than when you started the diet.

No starvation dieting is one of the biggest advantages of weight-loss acupuncture.

How Acupuncture Works

Yan’s weight loss techniques use acupuncture to stimulate the meridians to adjust the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal cortex and the sympathetic-adrenal medulla system function. This would speed up the basal metabolic rate; promoting fat metabolism, increase heat production and use up the accumulated body fat. Weight-loss acupuncture improves and repairs your body’s own balance. By stimulating the acupoints it will strengthen the spleen and kidney, removing stagnation and eliminating local fat.

Lipids

Some patients have higher than normal amounts of lipid peroxide in their bodies, so weight-loss acupuncture is used to reduce the content of lipid peroxide.  This accelerates the metabolism of fat and achieves overall weight loss.

Endocrine disorder

Endocrine disorder is the cause of obesity for many people.  Women suffer from this particularly after giving birth, when the endocrine balance is disturbed.  At menopause, the endocrine imbalance can again result in weight gain.

By regulating the hypothalamus pituitary adrenal cortex and the sympathetic adrenal cortex systems, weight-loss acupuncture corrects the endocrine disorder.  Fat metabolism is accelerated and weight loss is achieved.

Abnormal Appetite

Abnormal appetite is corrected by stimulating carefully chosen acupoints.  The weight-loss acupuncture reduces the feeling of hunger by slowing gastric peristalsis and inhibiting gastric acid secretion.  This simple but very effective acupuncture technique reduces achieves weight loss through helping you not to feel hungry.  You eat less and lose weight!

EAT WELL AND LOSE WEIGHT

Acupuncture has to be combined with a good diet to be effective.  There are three simple principles:

1.    If you are not hungry, don’t eat!
2.    If you are hungry then eat green vegetables, lean meat and eggs until you feel full.
3.    Don’t eat sweets and fatty meat, potato, lotus root, vermicelli etc.

Pediatric TuiNa Massage

Needle-free Acutherapy and Tui Na (Chinese Medical Massage) have been developed as methods of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and have been used to treat children for thousands of years. Generally, children up to the age of 5 respond most effectively; children age 6 up to age 12 will respond well to this gentle form of therapy. Pediatric TuiNa massage treats a variety of childhood ailments, such as poor appetite, diarrhea, cold, flu, fever, cough, asthma, vomiting, indigestion, constipation, rhinitis, tonsillitis, chronic bronchitis, prosopantritis, thrush, enuresis, infantile malnutrition, and more.

A single massage session is about 30 minutes. Because the techniques are relatively simple to learn, I am able and willing to teach parents the technique, so they can perform TuiNa Massage at home between treatment sessions in my clinic.

Quit smoking

The acupuncture treatments to aid in quitting smoking will focus on reducing cravings, irritability and restlessness and assist in relaxation and detoxification. It aims at balancing the energy within the body to optimize health.

The hair-thin needles will be inserted superficially into various points in the ears and body to aid with smoking cessation. To assist acupuncture treatment, small pellets/seeds can be applied to the body with adhesive tape, at pressure points on the ears. This can be done between acupuncture treatments, where you may gently apply pressure to the pellets/seeds to help calm the mind and eliminate the craving.

Additionally, I can teach you Qigong – deep breathing exercises to increase body oxygen and help stay calm as another aid to quitting smoking.
